    LS3/5A这个名字本身就容易让人混淆，但是实际上它只是遵循了BBC的设备命名规范：箱体名称前的字母为“CT”，滤波器为“FL”，扬声器则是“LS”，因而用了LS这两个字母。名称中的“3”表示产品主要是为室外使用而设计。如果是“5”的话就表示室内使用，比如LS5/9。斜线后的数字“5”表示型号，在此之前室外使用的型号还有LS3/1。产品最初的名称是LS3/5，后来在名称后又加了个“A”，用来表示在原型产品性能参数上做出的首次也是唯一的一次改动。

    LS3/5A自1974年投产，到1998年正式停产，其间24年，先后参与LS3/5A生产的有ROGERS、 CHARTWELL、Audiomaster、RAM、Goodmans、Spendor、Harbeth、KEF、STIRLING、RICHARD ALLEN等十家英国厂商。

   The name  LS3 / 5A is easy to confuse, but actually, it is just following the BBC equipment naming conventions: the name in fount of the box is "CT", filter for "FL", the speaker is "LS", so the LS is taken. "3" in the name means products are mainly designed for outdoor usage. If it is "5", that means indoor usage, such as digital LS5/9. "5" after slash represents type, before this, model for outdoor usage included LS3/1. The first name was LS3 / 5, an "a" was added to its name later to indicate it’s the prototype. This is he first and only change in product performance parameters.

    LS3/5A was produced since 1974, and was paused in 1998. During the 24 years, there were 10 UK manufacturers participated in the production of LS3/5A, they were :ROGERS  CHARTWELL, Audiomaster, RAM, Goodmans, Spendor, Harbeth, KEF, STIRLING, RICHARD ALLEN and so on.
