    In June 1888, a millionaire named Jesse Lippincott, won the Edison Phonograph Company. He created the North American Phonograph Company, and made the Edison Phonograph Company to become its subsidiary companies. In 1889, North American Phonograph Company established the District of Columbia Graphophone Company, specializes in selling singing cylinder gramophone in Washington, DC.

    Columbia Graphophone Company improved the phonograph, and reduced the cost, in addition to producing and selling in the United States, but also expand the market in Europe actively, and established branch of British Columbia Phonograph Company in London in 1900.
